Politika euroskepticizmu Veľkej Británie a jej predpokladané dôsledky pre britskú spoločnosť

The policy of Euroscepticism of Great Britain and its expected consequences for British society

Abstract

The aim of this study is to emphasize the main causes of increased British Euroscepticism, which is present across both the entire society and the political spectrum. The Lisbon Treaty transferred further competences from the national governments to the European supranational institutions and introduced a clause which, for the first time, allows Member States under certain conditions to leave the European Union. Its ratification was the main reason for the rapid increase in scepticism of British public towards the direction of European integration, resulting in long ongoing debate about Britain leaving the EU. A direct response to this continuing state was David Cameron‘s speech, which promised a referendum on staying of the country in the EU. Our aim will be to analyze objectively the possible political and economic impacts of the potential exit ofthe Britain from the EU and the possibilities of their future mutual relations.

Cieľom predkladanej štúdie je poukázať na hlavné príčiny nárastu britského euroskepticizmu, ktorý je prítomný naprieč celou spoločnosťou i politickým spektrom. Lisabonská zmluva znamenala prenesenie ďalších kompetencií z národných vlád na európske nadnárodné inštitúcie a zaviedla klauzulu, ktorá po prvýkrát umožňuje členským štátom za určitých podmienok vystúpiť z EÚ. Jej ratifikácia bola hlavnou dôvodom rapídneho vzrastu skeptických postojov britskej verejnosti voči smerovaniu európskej integrácie, dôsledkom čoho v Británii dlhodobo prebiehajú debaty o vystúpení z EÚ. Priamou reakciou na tento pretrvávajúci stav bol prejav Davida Camerona, v ktorom prisľúbil referendum o zotrvaní krajiny v EÚ. Naším zámerom bude objektívnym pohľadom analyzovať možné politicko-ekonomické dopady prípadného vystúpenia Spojeného kráľovstva z EÚ a možnosti ich budúcich vzájomných vzťahov.
